Meet Dr. Alan Erickson

Dr. Alan Erickson DDS

Alan Erickson, DDS

A lifelong Northwesterner, I grew up in Edmonds WA as the oldest of 3 boys. In 1982, I received a BS in Fisheries from the University of Washington, where I participated as a member of the rowing team’s Varsity 8 for 3 out of 4 years. My best memory was beating California and crossing the finish line for the PAC 10 championship, just as Mt. St Helens blew up on May 18, 1980. I went on to race for the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley, England, in 1981, ultimately losing to the British national team.

I then spent the next 10 years as a commercial fisherman throughout Alaska, participating in many fisheries including Bristol Bay salmon, and Bering Sea crab. This experience instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance that still guide me today.

A career switch to Dentistry led me to Baltimore MD, where I graduated with a DDS degree in 1996. There, I received the prestigious AGD award voted on by the faculty. After a year long General Dentistry residency at the VA Hospital in Baltimore, I returned to Arlington WA, where I purchased the long time practice of my uncle, Dr. Jack Erickson.

After 18 years of General Dentistry, my interest shifted to treating sleep apnea patients with oral appliance therapy. In April of 2016, I opened a new practice, Sleep Advantage, which is dedicated solely to Oral Appliance Therapy.

I live in Everett, where my wife and I have two teenage children. I spend my spare time attending their activities, as well as boating, fishing, and volunteer work with the Boy Scouts. Additionally, I am on the Educational Service District 189’s Board of Directors.
